Music Technology is a course for learners with a broad interest in popular music. The course is practical based, with learners developing technical and instrumental skills using recording equipment & software to create music in a range of contexts.
Learners will complete a variety of practical based activities, supported by their knowledge and understanding of popular musical styles/genres and concepts.
The practical and experiential nature of this course gives learners many opportunities to work with others, to show imagination and creativity and apply learned technical skills using a variety of technology in different ways. This allows learners lots of opportunity for personalisation and choice making it suitable for a variety of learners with a range of musical interests.
The aims of the S3 Music Technology course are to:
- develop basic technical skills in using music technology hardware and software to record and manipulate audio
- use music technology creatively in sound production in a variety of contexts
- develop an understanding of a range of 20th and 21st century musical styles and genres
- reflect on your own work and that of others
